More than "just" everything
Did you miss anything last year at this time of year, around mid-September, four weeks before my birthday?
Yes, exactly, there was something. Well, no, there was nothing last year. And no, I'm not talking about the Oktoberfest. My state of health, from my psyche to my eyes (which later turned out to be a headache and a torn cornea), didn't allow me to organise such a large-scale fundraising marathon as the Oktoberfest. the years before into being.
It's not enough to just say here I am and then my community donates a few thousand euros. That would be nice. After all, we want to spill our guts, and we also want to make a difference. Every donation, no matter how small or large, counts. The earth needs us more than ever. That's why we are supporting more nature and species conservation projects than ever this year.
And that is the most difficult part, selecting the projects that we support with our donations. There are so many ecological hotspots on this planet, some literally. Where can we achieve the most with the least amount of money? And which project might not win the cost-benefit comparison, but is still so endearing that it deserves our support? More on this later, but here are the most important things in brief:
I'm giving you three weeks until my birthday to donate. Every week, I'll introduce you to a new nature and species conservation project that we're supporting with a larger or smaller portion of our donations. And as attentive readers of my blog may have already noticed, I'm starting with the beautiful Rainforest on Sumatrathe home of my two orangutans Asto and Asih. Tell your family, your friends. Send the link to all your work colleagues, I don't care. I can show you how important this is to me and how much I care about the projects I have chosen...
On the day after my birthday, 15 October, which will be 16 October, I'm making it particularly exciting this year. I'm sure you remember last time, the year before last, so to speak. I doubled your stake for a good cause. But this year we are actually donating for two years, for 2025 and for 2024. And as you may have heard in my introductory words, this year we are donating for more than "just" one project.
So I'm giving you the chance to make even more of your donation.
And by the way, it would be very interesting if you could actually hear me not only speaking between the lines, but also on the lines. Fun. (...which you will realise at the latest when you look at my biography of a fully paralysed, fully ventilated, fully insane but lovably crazy person).
If we have collected €1,000 or more by the end of my birthday, I will double all donations.
But if we've raised €2,000 or more, I'll triple it.
And when we've raised €3,000 or more, I'll raise it to €10,000. And we'll save the planet together. Deal?
