I am currently caring for a client (in his mid-50s) in the Brandenburg area. He is suffering from ALS, like many people I am allowed to care for in my freelance work
Who am I impressed by? His wife! Her main job is managing director of a family business, and she also looks after her tracheotomised, ventilated husband at home, currently works 20 nights a month, receives a personal budget from the health insurance company and takes care of the entire care organisation on her own, without budget assistance!
Then comes a little bit of house, yard and dog and at some point a little bit of HER
Today we had time to talk a little. She told us that she was absolutely overwhelmed at the beginning. When her husband could no longer tolerate the mask and came home tracheotomised (with a tracheotomy).... At times she was on her own for less than a full 24 hours
Intensive care was implemented.... After many sleepless nights, her husband went into a nursing home for a few weeks because she simply couldn't cope any more and was completely overwhelmed. She now looks after her husband on her own, changing cannulas and doing everything the other carers do. It was a very difficult journey and, especially in the beginning, she would have liked so much support, someone to take her by the hand and walk the path with her.
Why am I writing this? If you need help and support in what is perhaps the most difficult and challenging time of your life, I can be that person for you. I will accompany you online with my knowledge, my experience and will give you, as a relative of a person in intensive care, more security. In a situation that is already difficult enough
