Munich. Patrick Ruppelt, Head of Marketing and Sales at Killus Computersysteme GmbH, reveals to business-on.de how Munich-based companies are represented at CEBIT 2010.

"The Cebit has probably earned a name for itself as the best-known IT or even ICT trade fair in the world. For Killus Computersysteme GmbH, the question arises every year as to what extent a visit makes sense.

So far, we have really only "visited" Cebit. Two things were in the foreground: gaining information with regard to new products and technologies, and personal contact with suppliers. The latter has more or less become superfluous over the years. As a full service provider, we rely heavily on close cooperation with both manufacturers and distributors, so we maintain these contacts on an ongoing basis. We also work with local companies wherever possible. For example, we procure almost 90% of all goods via companies from the greater Munich area.

One should also not forget that all renowned distributors organise their own local in-house trade fairs or even larger events together with manufacturers, which the Cebit cannot hold a candle to, at least from the point of view of a specialist dealer or system house. Already a few years ago, the truly specialist area shrank to a tiny grandiloquently named "planet", and the innovations not yet shown on the net or on other occasions failed to materialise. The Cebit is miles away from a trade fair."
