Eiderdaus. So if and when I can't think of anything else to write about, all I have to do is take a look at the tabloids. Well, that is, take a look at Facebook. I'm too old for other platforms. But it's probably the same there.

Admittedly, even though my Facebook account was registered on the UK platform in the early 2000s because it didn't yet exist in Germany, I'm not active there. A new post appears on my blog every day. It's your own fault if you keep checking it. Winkersmiley. But on my Facebook wall? That's not much of a wall. The next big thing is being planned. There'll be another one just before my birthday. Last year was already big. My fundraising goal was 500 €. I had promised to fill the 500 at the last minute if it wasn't reached. Far from it. You are all so awesome that we ended up collecting a whopping 1,455 € for ALS-mobil e.V. Here you'll find the story from back then. Like this. And this year we are doing something that is close to my heart. Helping associations that help other ALS patients in whatever way is cool and meaningful. But this year we are doing something that is even cooler and has a much higher value for me personally. So. Enough spoilers for today. So back to the actual topic.

Last week, I somehow completely drifted away. Everything suddenly went so wonderfully smoothly with my carers, there was so much free usable time left. Time that I didn't "endure" in any way, but that made me feel physically and mentally fit. I don't want to say I didn't use the time wisely. But maybe I spent a bit too much time on social media. You really have to be careful not to get stupid. Or believe the bullshit that's being spread there.

Personally, I was quite shocked by a post from the group "The Young Entrepreneurs". Until now, I had thought they were halfway serious. A good 30,000 other young entrepreneurs probably think similarly. And then I have to read such complete bullshit about an annual data protection certification obligation. So, how do you put it nicely? There is no obligation to certify anything annually. There is not even a DS-GVO certification at all. On the contrary, many companies would like to have a stamp of approval so that they are "in the clear" when the data protection authorities show up at their door. But there is no such thing and there never will be. For a whole series of compelling legal reasons. Be that as it may, the post looked like this in the original.

The biggest nonsense I have read in a long time. I can only imagine that the author is an AFD voter. I have no other idea how such fake news can come about. And yes, I think I am allowed to say that. I've been advising clients on data protection law for over twenty years, even with my ALS disease I'm still the managing director of a fairly successful system house that deals with just that and advises law firms, ... well okay, and I'm a TÜV-Süd certified data protection officer and studied business administration. As such, it's really hard for me to keep my fingers still. I think I've solved this quite elegantly.

It's really like that. The video was made spontaneously one Friday evening. It was still the "hot phase". Everyone was talking about the evil, evil General Data Protection Regulation. The clamour was already great back then. Especially among those who until then had not given a damn about data protection and had also trampled on the regulations that had been in force for years. Because at the end of the day, none of this was new. What was new was that the years-long grace period had finally come to an end. And violations were no longer exempt from punishment.

This all reminds me quite strongly of an article I wrote for my company more than five years ago. It really got on my nerves how many people were upset about this "sudden change". It's actually sad that some people still haven't understood. Because the very people who are screaming here are the very same people who would like to shut down Facebook and the like. Because they don't handle personal data carefully. At the time, I wrote so aptly:

If someone processes your personal data, do you want them to handle it carefully and conscientiously? In other words, do you want them to provide a certain level of protection so that unauthorised persons do not have access to it? Wouldn't it be appropriate to protect your rights as a data subject in some way? Yes, do you think so?

Exactly this is data protection! We do not protect the data but we protect the rights of data subjectsActually, it should not be called the General Data Protection Regulation but Data Protection Regulationbut good. I didn't make up the name and probably the thing with data protection just looked better on paper.

So, to recap, data protection is still not new. In the vast majority of cases, small businesses do not need a data protection officer. There is no DS-GVO certification. And certainly no obligation to make any kind of annual reservation. So there is nothing that "the young entrepreneurs" could do away with. They've really got it into their heads.

In this respect, a little call to all the would-be know-it-alls out there. Wink smiley.

Or for the AFD voters for whom this was probably too subtle - who would I be if I discriminated against you or even excluded you - here again simply and for the record.

Gosh, I've found something to grumble about again. What is it about correcting people that gives me inner satisfaction? Should I be worried? I don't think so, it's always been like that. And with posts like this one, I can't help it.

I would have expected at least a correction from the editors of "Die jungen Unternehmer". Or at least a statement of some kind. But unfortunately nothing came. Maybe AFD supporters after all? First they spread absurd lies, don't substantiate any of them and then don't face any simple question. I mean, that's exactly the programme of the AFD. So you have to live with my criticism.

I have one more. Be well and stay healthy. I'm out.

Update from 29.8.2023: Facebook's AI still has a lot to learn. No words. Ah yes, nothing came from the editors. Weak.
