The bizarre thing about international law is that it only applies to those who have submitted to it. From a legal point of view, Japan has probably done nothing wrong with its new commercial whaling programme. Like Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Norway, Canada. They are not subject to international law so it is not binding on them.

A good friend gave me a tip today to look into international trade law. On what legal basis do Iceland and Norway actually transport prohibited trade goods (whale meat) to Japan? We should urgently put our own house in order.

As far as the arrest of Paul Watson is concerned, there is simply no international arrest warrant and no conviction. If he is extradited, he faces an unfair trial.

End of the story.
