Dear Diary,

It's like being in a madhouse. Only recently I reported that my care service was once again too stupid to count to 24. To put it another way, whoever opened the last box of my drinking food didn't tell me about it.

Now, one could assume that I would also be told when the bottles become fewer and fewer and simply nothing more comes. Because I always have a supply of two to three boxes with 24 portions each. Otherwise I wouldn't get the 1,600 to 2,000 kcal daily and would run out of food, which would really be about the stupidest thing you could do as a caregiver to your ALS patient. Okay, we already had that once this year. But theoretically there was at least some left in the cupboard. It was with fish, expired months ago and gave me food poisoning, but that's another topic...

But no, far from it, despite acutely threatening supply bottlenecks and known delivery problems, no one tells me. You simply mustn't draw conclusions from yourself about others.

It was only when there is only food for 18 hours that I was informed for the first time. Casually. And then, on day X, I was told that the food was now gone. That's it. That's just the way it is. Will the pharmacy deliver today? What do you mean? Why should they? In order to do that, you would have had to order in the second step. Which, in the first step, requires someone to let me know. Which - again - didn't work. Incompetent bunch.

And the pharmacy, yes, that's one thing. It sucks when you notoriously order two weeks too late. Then the smallest changes in the ordering process can really stab you in the back. Today I get the news from the pharmacy that my health insurance company has unfortunately overturned the settlement agreement. So I have to order again from somewhere else.

Hello Mr Ruppelt,

I have received the information that unfortunately we have not been able to bill the AOK for sip feeds since 31.3. The health insurance company has changed its contracts and we are no longer entitled to submit the prescriptions.

The delivery of the pre-ordered food has already arrived. However, we can only charge it privately (partially if necessary).

Please excuse the inconvenience.

Best regards,

What else is there for me to do?

Of course, they still deliver and - once again - I pay for health insurance services myself because my nursing service is too stupid to tell me that something needs to be ordered. At least the pharmacy accommodates me. They deliver one box and send two back themselves.

Hello Mr Ruppelt,

We can deliver a box today. It costs 145,74€.

Please let us know if you want us to return the other 2 boxes.

Best regards,

At this point I have lost the desire to make any further efforts to somehow get such things sorted out with my care service. I've lost all hope and malt here. Another 150,¨- € for my ass, because ... I can't put it in a friendly way. Let's leave it at that.

Since the search for a new supplier, in consultation with the AOK, is dragging on over weekends and holidays, a second box is also due. One box is only enough for five days. It doesn't all happen that quickly. What do we say? Thank you very much, team. It should be deducted from your salary, honestly. My guy's not gonna break a sweat. So why is it that the simplest things don't work around here?
