Update: Burning under my nails

Hello, my dear diary,

Today will be a good day. At 5 a.m. there was a small "misunderstanding", instead of understanding my leakage at the mask as a call, once again a leaking mask was suspected. Without asking, it was tightened. Without asking if everything was all right and without asking if I could still raise the alarm, I waited alone again. And the alarm? Well, half an hour later I managed to set it off. And it was good training for my self-control, it finally happened - Murphy says hello - when I was lying on my left side. That is, where I also have no eye control and consequently can only ring via the mask. But once that was solved, I slept until 8:20. That's good. And otherwise the care went quite well the last few days. Besides, the sun just came out for a moment. That not only brightens up the flat, but also my mood.

My doctor was also there in the meantime to look at my toe. Nobody likes a know-it-all, but of course I won all bets. I was right, it's not an ingrown nail as my nurses consistently think. Rather, it is what is known as nail fold inflammation. It's probably more common. My family doctor told me that he always has patients fresh from professional chiropody who have exactly this problem. So for a change, I have something quite mundane. It's almost boring.

The treatment is simple. First, any hanging skin and trapped pus in the nail fold is scalped out. Unfortunately, I didn't think in time to ask my nurse to take photos of it. I can therefore only reproduce what my doctor said he was scalping. I would have loved to see exactly what was done. Well, it's not exactly pleasant, but it really wasn't as tragic as I was told it would be. It doesn't make it onto my pain ranking list.

Subsequently, only Betaisadona or PVP iodine ointment is smeared on it daily and bandaged.

It hardly looks any better in the current pictures. But that's only because of the iodine ointment. I prefer Lavanid gel anyway, but somehow nobody here knows it. No matter. Despite all the iodine, you can see that the nail fold looks much better than it did a few days ago.

And it is absolutely painless throughout the day and night. Runs.
